Guidelines for Narratives Workshops

This chapter outlines a narrative approach to learning. Narrative approaches can provide pragmatic, cognitive, and emotional learning opportunities by drawing on authentic stories and viewpoints. In reviewing and reflecting on case narratives of microaggression and racism, students and actively employed healthcare professionals can gain humility and reflective insight. Beliefs and behaviors can be openly challenged and progress can be made toward a more equitable system of care.
