SIMPLE Economic Theory
摘要
This chapter introduces the economic theory behind the SIMPLE (non-gridded) model. This theory forms the basis for global economic analysis of a wide range of land-based sustainability challenges and solutions. We start with a framework in which the world food system is viewed as one, global entity. Then we introduce trade between regions. Finally, we discuss the implications of more elaborate trade geographies. The gridded model, SIMPLE-G, which is the subject of this book, can be viewed as a spatial disaggregation of one or more regions within the SIMPLE framework. The theory behind the gridded analysis will be covered in Chap. 3 .
