In this note, we present a thorough survey of the properties and compactness criteria for the resolvent of the Kramers–Fokker–Planck operator. We examine several notable articles, such as Ben Said et al. (Quaternionic structure and analysis of some Kramers-Fokker-Planck, 2018; Ben Said, Global subelliptic estimates for Kramers-Fokker-Planck operators with some class of polynomial, 2018), and Ben Said (Kramers-Fokker-Planck operators with homogeneous potentials, 2019), which have extensively explored this topic. Through the review of these works, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental aspects and analytical techniques related to this operator.
