Air Pollution in Delhi: Causes and Consequences

The geographical area of Delhi is 1483 sq. km, with a population of 1.68 crore (2011 Census of India). Delhi is a landlocked city, with Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh as its neighboring states. Activities in NCR impact the climate and environment of the city. Delhi, being the capital of the country, has an inherent requirement of land for official establishments, development projects, educational institutions, etc., but has limited resources. Delhi is not only densely populated, but many people from the nearby area commute to this place daily. This chapter deals with the main causes and consequences of air pollution on public health in Delhi.
