The Unilateral Cleft Lip Nose Deformity

  • Percy Rossell-Perry

摘要

The unilateral cleft lip nose deformity may have a wide spectrum of presentations; therefore, its treatment should be applied according to this variation. Despite the incomplete or complete unilateral cleft lips, the anatomy of the nose has important differences. The nose deformity in unilateral cleft lip and palate patients has an important lack of structural support including collapse of maxillary segments and septal deviation to different degrees, so the impact of these alterations is clearly reflected in the nasal aesthetics and function. Compared with complete forms, incomplete and microforms are associated with mild nose deformity, and these differences should be considered when developing an adequate strategy to restore the anatomy with aesthetic and functional purposes. This chapter describes the characteristics of these types of unilateral cleft lip and the nature of the associated nose deformity.
