Applying the Knowledge Behavior Gap Model to Study the Acceptance of Blockchain-Based Solutions

Acceptance of emerging technologies like blockchain varies widely among different groups and regions. While there has been a gradual increase in acceptance and adoption over recent years, some skepticism and resistance remain, particularly concerning issues like environmental impact and technological complexity. Thus, this study employs the Knowledge Behavior Gap (KBG) model to gain deeper insights into human perceptions of blockchain-based solutions. It includes a quantitative analysis of 200 survey responses investigating the pathways from knowledge to use behavior related to blockchain-based solutions. The research findings validate and expand the applicability of the Knowledge Behavior Gap model in the wider context of emerging technologies and elucidate how knowledge leads through acceptance and intention toward actual use behavior. Notably, this study reveals a moderating effect of education on the transition from acceptance to intention using blockchain-based solutions. It highlights that higher educational-level individuals display a weaker connection between acceptance and intention. This work contributes to the broader discourse on technological adoption, providing insights pertinent to academic research and practical application in technology management and organizational hyper-performance.
