Muslim Televangelism: The Beginning of the Story

This chapter sets the context for the development of the book and the inquiry into Muslim televangelism. While narrating my first encounters with televangelism in Hurghada in Egypt, I will shed light on the emergence of Muslim televangelism, its importance and its key features. This will be followed by exploring the meanings of identity as a discursive representation, the Research Questions and scope of the book, its research design and a synopsis of the three case studies of Muslim televangelism being examined in the book. Finally, I will explain the book’s outline and its key themes.
