Network Protocols for the Internet of Things
摘要
In this chapter, the network layer of the IoT domain is examined, emphasizing encapsulation and routing protocols. Within the realm of the Internet of Things, the 6LoWPAN protocol is among the most significant schemes. The fragmentation procedure is required to compensate for the constraint of a maximum frame size of 128 bytes that is imposed by IEEE 802.15.4. It is distinguished by a unique header compression that is designed to reduce the transmission overhead. The total of 1280 bytes that make up an IPv6 frame (the minimum Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) for IPv6) is broken up into 127 bytes, which is the MTU for the 802.15.4 protocol.
