Authentication and Authorization

The use of authentication and access control systems is crucial in the Internet of Things. Because Internet of Things devices are so dependent on the reliability of their other linked components, a security breach in just one part of the network might bring down the whole system. Two very significant concepts in the context of access control and computer security are authentication and authorization. An important aspect of authentication is confirming the identity of the user or system component that is trying to access a resource. This is achieved by using authentication mechanisms like smart cards, biometric features, usernames, and passwords.
