Bilateral Convergence

  • Roberto Dominguez

摘要

This chapter argues that the liberal alliance between the EU and Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador has achieved a collective consensus in the Multilateral Trade Agreement (MTA). At the same time, bilateral relations with three Andean countries remain crucial. Colombia's efforts in reconciliation and pacification have been supported by the EU. The EU has also endorsed democratic institutions and the rule of law in Peru during political stability. The European Union has also expressed concern over Ecuador's ability to control and combat organized crime effectively. Although the three nations face specific domestic challenges, the core principles of the liberal partnership enable the European Union to engage in collaborative efforts to  enhance capabilities across a broad range of areas in each country, spanning from human rights to digital partnerships.
