RRS in Asia

There are political and cultural barriers to implementing an RRS that have been well described. In Asia, formal hospital hierarchical culture may be more pronounced than in other regions of the world. A relatively strict traditional order of power still exists that makes it difficult for ward staff to call for help outside the usual structure of care. As a result, Asia has lagged behind other regions. RRS leaders in the region are working to overcome these barriers using technology and assessment teams. They have also worked with national organizations to promote RRS, which has helped uptake across several nations. In this chapter, we discuss the current state and how progress was made in Japan, Korea, and Singapore.
