Conclusion: A Tale of Two Cities, a Plaque, a Triptych, a Beginning and an End
摘要
The Conclusion to Intimations, subtitled “A Tale of Two Cities;” in recognition of the places of Conrad’s early life and its end, contains historical and biographical material pertaining to a plaque in Warsaw where Conrad lived as an infant and a triptych by eminent sculptor and carver Dora Clarke at the Conrad community hall at Bishopsbourne, the village where he died. Together these two last memorials encompass the alpha and omega of Conrad’s life. The Conclusion provides a summing-up of all that has preceded it.
