摘要

Breast cancer is today one of the leading causes of cancer death in women and is the second most common cancer in the world. Its early detection therefore becomes crucial. In recent years, the use of thermal imaging techniques to detect and differentiate the stages of breast cancer has aroused exceptional interest. Infrared imaging (IR) and microwave radiothermometry (MRI) techniques are very useful for pre-post-clinical evaluation, as these methods are relatively fast and can be reused over a longer period of time without the risk of irradiation. Some research suggests that microwave diothermometry, when used with well-defined protocols, can reveal the first symptoms of cancer several years earlier than mammography. This method allows diagnosis in women of any age and also allows periodic screening programs in countries at all resource levels. Thus, this method can be considered a good alternative to mammography. This chapter proposes a model for identifying a malignant breast tumor based on thermogram data obtained by microwave radiothermometry.
