Sustainable waste management entails lowering the quantity of garbage generated while simultaneously discovering ways to reuse or compost the remaining material. It also entails minimising the amount of rubbish that is burnt or placed in landfills. There are numerous sorts of environmentally friendly waste management options, each with distinct advantages and downsides. Sustainable waste management methods include segregating recyclable materials from other garbage, utilising recyclables instead of not biodegradable ones, decomposing organic waste, and limiting the usage of plastic bags. This paper is framed based on the descriptive research method and analyses the various existing literature sourced from publications. This review paper or article is derived from previously published works such as journal publication and book chapter publications. There is no primary or the secondary data has been used for this paper. Review articles often provide an overview of the body of research on a subject in an effort to explain the state of knowledge that exists today. In this manner, this paper aims to review various published resources to reveal the findings of the studies. Approximately 75% of the costs associated with solid waste management go towards waste collection and transportation. Most municipal districts use metal containers with colour designations to aid in MSW segregation. Waste is gathered by municipal employees from homes and businesses and delivered to the closest trash cans. Even with improvements made to the trash collection system, over half of the cities are still unable to collect just 25% of the MSW that should be collected from garbage receptacles and transported to disposal locations.
