Risk-Return Analysis of Special Mutual Fund Schemes: An Empirical Study in the Indian Context with Special Reference to Solution-Oriented Mutual Funds and ESG Funds
摘要
The study investigates the performance of open-ended, direct, growth-oriented ESG schemes and solution-oriented schemes, which include child benefit schemes and retirement benefit schemes, from April 2014 to December 2023 in the dynamic economy. The study covers 44 mutual fund schemes including 25 retirement funds, 10 children's funds, and 9 ESG funds. The return from the fund schemes has been computed using the daily closing NAV of the various schemes that were chosen. To assess the risk, the NSE-Nifty 100, representing the market portfolio, has been employed as a benchmark for comparing the different schemes. The historical performance of the selected funds has been evaluated based on Sharpe, Treynor, and Alpha measures, whose results will be useful for investors in making better investment decisions. The study reveals that the majority of the mutual fund schemes that were chosen for analysis had outperformed the return on the benchmark. It was also evident from the findings that several of the plans had underperformed. This study is relevant since it is the first of its kind to focus on solution-oriented mutual funds as a whole.
