Theoretical Perspective of Fintech

Financial technology, or fintech, is a commonly used phrase, yet the subject has received very little theoretical attention. The goals of this chapter are to provide readers a high-level summary of the fintech conversation, review recent academic publications and suggest potential new lines of inquiry. In order to analyse, and interpret, a collection of peer-reviewed journals was compiled, located, reviewed, categorised and arranged into general topic categories. Fintech is defined, characterised, adopted, regulated and studied in relation to competition; this chapter delves into the literature on the subject and suggests several directions for further research. Many in the financial sector see the modern field of study known as “fintech” as a significant step forward. In order to better understand the phenomena, this website is designed to assist academics and researchers with a broader interest.
