Case Series of Far-Left Extremists: Applying Travis Hirschi’s Control Theory and Sampson and Laub’s Theory of Turning Points

  • Stephen J. Morewitz

摘要

This chapter analyzes whether Hirschi’s (Causes of delinquency, University of California Press, 1969) control/social bonds theory and Sampson and Laub’s (Criminology 31:301–325, 1993) theory of turning points in juvenile delinquency can clarify why six individuals (anarchist Alexander Berkman, anarchist Leon F. Czolgosz, communist Gus Hall, racial injustice extremist Eldridge Cleaver, animal rights extremist Ronnie Lee, and Antifa extremist and anarchist Nicole Armbruster) became radicalized and maintained their participation in these far-left extremist activities.
