Recent Advances in Semi-industrial Water Treatment Under Integrated Cavitational Processes

摘要

Due to the escalating focus on environmental concerns, the treatment of industrial wastewater has become a paramount area for research and development efforts. Cavitational treatment, especially hydrodynamic cavitation (HC), emerges as a promising approach for enhancing wastewater treatment processes due to its notable attributes such as high energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, ability to initiate chemical reactions, and scalability. This chapter delves into the design parameters of hydrodynamic cavitation reactors and their performance in conjunction with several Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs), both in laboratory and pilot-scale settings. We provide examples of successful treatments of industrial water containing recalcitrant organic molecules. HC, among cavitational treatments, has garnered significant interest in industrial wastewater treatment due to its simple reactor design, robustness, ease of operating parameters, and increased energy efficiency. This interest stems from the high-pressure and velocity alterations within the system. Additionally, an overview of commercially available cavitation reactors is presented herein.
