摘要

Mangrove ecosystems play a vital role in supporting the health of coastal communities and the environment by offering a wide range of ecosystem services, such as supplying food, purifying water, and contributing to climate change mitigation. However, biodiversity loss and habitat degradation hinder mangroves’ ability to deliver these services. This chapter investigates the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem services within mangrove ecosystems. A crucial aspect of conservation involves adopting an interconnected coastal ecosystem mosaic approach, which is essential for safeguarding the diverse web of life in which the mangroves sustain. This approach acknowledges the indispensable contributions of various habitats to the survival and resilience of species. By advocating for sustainable practices and cultivating a deeper understanding of the complex relationships within these vital ecosystems, we can preserve the long-term well-being and resilience of mangroves and the communities that depend on them.
