This chapter examines the economic value and coastal protection potential of mangroves, emphasizing their crucial role in providing valuable ecosystem services. Through detailed analyses, the significance of incorporating mangroves in coastal protection plans is emphasized. While mangrove conservation, restoration, and establishment entail substantial opportunity costs, their benefits far outweigh these expenses. It emphasizes the necessity of a comprehensive coastal protection plans that incorporate mangroves along with systems for early warning and educational programs in order to effectively protect people’s lives. By combining these approaches, coastal communities can maintain livelihoods dependent on mangroves while enhancing resilience against natural disasters.
