Digital Agriculture Ecosystem

An ecosystemEcosystem is a system in a specific environment where living (plants, animals, microbes) and non-living entities (weather, climate, soil, water, landscape, etc.) interact with each other to create a bubble of life (National geographic: ecosystem definition. https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/ecosystem/ ). In an ecosystemEcosystem, all living entities rely on each other to support life. The feeding relationships between organisms of an ecosystemEcosystem can be described as a food chain. In the food chain, plants are dependent on various environmental factors (i.e., sunlight, water, soil nutrients, air, etc.) and produce food for animals and humans. The wastes and organic matter produced by plants, and humans are broken down by microbes to soil humus which are then available for the plants to use. The basic steps in a food chain are shown in Fig. 2.1.
