This paper attempts to make the case on behalf of free trade. It utilizes the insights of the Austrian School of Economics and the political economy of the libertarian philosophy. It ranges over the free movement of goods, investment, and people. From an economic point of view, this essay attempts to demonstrate the benefits not only of absolute advantage, where one country is clearly more efficient than another regarding one item, and the other country has this ability with regard to a second item. It also illustrates the case for free trade even when one country is more efficient than another concerning all goods. From a libertarian point of view, this article shows that free trade is a capitalist act between consenting adults, and, thus, all protectionist measures constitute rights violations.
