Men, Means and Resources

The history of the Argentine Navy began in the context of the Wars of Independence against the Spanish Crown. On 12 January 1811, the Junta de Mayo—Provisional Government born of the May Revolution—created the Accounting and Reasoning Board of the Navy (Mesa de Cuenta y Razón de la Marina), responsible for preparing the ships armed by the government.
