Future Readers

This chapter contributes a final textual analysis grounded within a different reader response dataset: an introspective account of the short story, ‘My Evil Mother’, from Atwood’s short story collection Old Babes in the Wood (2023). The chapter closes with some final reflections on the prioritisation of readers, and the hopeful forecasting of future readers, at the heart of Atwood’s contemporary prose fiction writing.
