摘要

We aimed to estimate the amount of productivity lost in India in 2022 as a result of premature death from leading cancer sites. We used an incidence-based framework and the human capital approach. In response to criticisms of this approach, the friction cost approach was created to evaluate actual productivity loss as opposed to potential productivity loss. In 2022, India’s aggregate expense from early leading sites cancer death from lost productivity was $12.2 billion, or 0.36% of its GDP. With 8.7 million YPLL (years of productive life lost), or deaths from cancer, India had a cancer mortality rate according to its population size of $20,238 per death. In India, total costs and cost per death among females (total $3.1 billion, $10,500 per death) were less than those of males (total $9.1 billion; $29,512 per death). In such developing economies like India, specific localised methods are needed to lessen the financial toll of cancer.
