Digital Modelling of Trailer Truck Mounted Attenuator and Its Reliability Evaluation

Trailer truck mounted attenuator digital modelling method is considered in the article. The approach is based on classical mechanics methods (used for preliminary calculation) and finite element method (FEM) in non-linear setting as the main way of evaluation. LS-DYNA software was used in work. Main rules and stages of trailer truck mounted attenuator digital modelling and its validation with bench tests are described. The proposed method could be useful to create new structures that have to meet safety requirements. Digital simulation and full-scale test comparison with the analysis of structural elements reliability are also presented.
