Using Information and Communication Technology for Smart Urban Governance Mediated by Community Engagement

Due to the growing urban population worldwide, cities encounter significant challenges in effectively managing resources, providing infrastructure, and ensuring a high standard of living in scarce urban spaces. Many urban approaches have promoted sustainable development, including resilient, green, and smart cities. Smart cities have garnered the most popularity. This study examines the crucial role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in promoting efficient urban governance, specifically focusing on community involvement. By integrating ICTs with community engagement, cities can strengthen governance processes, optimize service delivery, and promote active citizen participation. This research examines the links between ICTs, community participation, and smart urban government results using a conceptual framework based on a thorough literature assessment. The results emphasize the significant impact that technology-driven governance can, particularly through using ICTs, leverage large amounts of data and enable interactive contact between citizens and public authorities. This study puts forward useful insights for policymakers, urban planners, and researchers in the field of urban development and governance.
