Using Digital Visualization Tools to Explore Landscape Preferences of Young Generation to Improve Youth Well-Being in Residential Communities
摘要
In the field of residential landscape design in China, there is increasing awareness among scholars and practitioners of the needs of the elderly and children. However, there has been relatively little in-depth research on youth preferences and needs in residential landscapes. In fact, residential landscape often lacks attraction to young residents, which results in a lower motivation for them to engage in community activities, thus affecting their physical health, mental health, and sense of well-being. Therefore, there is a need to find out youth preferences in the residential landscape in order to improve youth community engagement and well-being. A desktop survey was conducted as part of a larger study to improve community engagement in residential landscapes for youth well-being. The results found that collecting data on youth community engagement needs and preferences through digital visualization tools to ensure that residential landscapes are more creative, attractive, and inclusive promotes the engagement of young residents through the functional, aesthetic, and cultural landscapes to enhance their well-being by improving physical health, mental health, and sense of belonging. This study contributes to the development of the residential community landscape model for youth well-being. The proposed model addresses the current gaps in attractive, creative, and engaging community landscapes for youth. Future research should explore identifying community lifestyles preferred by young generations, searching for creative scene-based landscapes, and applying new technologies in landscape design practices.
