Circular Economy of Producing Green Nano Composites from Date Palm Nanoparticle to Reinforce Recycled Polymers

Circular Economy (CE) aims to reduce environmental damage, improve sustainability, and increase the resource value of plastic waste. Hence, green composites have been manufactured from recycled plastic and agro-residues. The contribution of this research is to characterize the newly developed Nano Date Palm Particle (NDPP) to reinforce recycled polypropylene (rPP) with different filler contents. The twin-screw extruder with 10 heating zones and compression molding is used to fabricate nanocomposite sheets. Following that, specimens are processed to ASTM standards and tested in a UTM setup. The morphological features of the resulting bio-composites are investigated using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Finally, the mechanical performance of the reinforced (rPP) using 3, 5, and 10% (wt.) NDPP is investigated using tensile and flexural tests. Successful implementation of Nano fillers in green composites offers an economical and sustainable route to attaining high-performance materials in the future.
