Titanium-Based Alloys with a Silicide Nanophase

This work is aimed at creating new titanium-based alloys on, which have improved mechanical properties and, at the same time, relatively high corrosion resistance in sea and tap water. This was done due to use the method of electron beam melting and alloying dopants of Nb (10–20 wt%), Si (1 wt%) and Zr in a wide range of concentrations (2–15 wt%). It was found that the optimal composition contains only 2 wt% Zr. Studies have shown that probably the bottom for the rise in mechanical properties is highly dispersed inclusions of silicide phase that had separated on the surface of material grains borders.
