Homeomorphisms of the Circle

We will study the orbit structure of orientation-preserving homeomorphisms of the unit circle. As is customary, we will identify the boundary of the unit disk \(\partial \mathbb {D} =\{z\in \mathbb {C}: |z|=1\}\) with the one-dimensional torus \( =\mathbb {R}/\mathbb {Z}\) .
