Trauma-Informed Care for Patients Who Have Experienced Racial Trauma or Discrimination
摘要
The experiences of minoritized and racialized people involve discrimination, exploitation, and mistreatment by the systems with which they interact. These experiences are both predictors of trauma and a form of trauma. Best practices in trauma-informed reproductive care for patients who have experienced race-based trauma require us to recognize the role of the medical system in harming patients of color. It is also incumbent on providers to recognize our own implicit biases and the way they impact our treatment of racialized patients who seek our care.
