Social Media Culture and the Representation of Indian Women of Different Age-Groups

Social media (SM) has emerged as revolution in communication technology. It allows for seamless communication across borders and time differences. Interaction between people has enhanced with its enabling feature of creating or sharing/exchanging information, concepts, messages, career affairs etc. through its online groups and social network. Some popular SM platforms are Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, Telegram, YouTube, Reddit, Quora, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Discord, Pinterest, Microsoft Teams, etc. Social media platforms with its multiple features have made communication a lot easier and fun. The advent of these platforms has allowed for faster content sharing in the form of text messages, pictures and videos. People have become creative by sharing information in different forms. This paper aims to comprehend the influence of SM platforms on young, middle age and older females. A random sample of 300 female respondents was studied to know this impact of the SM exposure. This study reported a number of advantages and disadvantages of SM on female population. The analysis was done and considerable difference was seen between the sample age-categories.
