Decision-Making with Monte Carlo Simulation in Medical Offices

This chapter presents a case study of waiting times in the medical office of the Generic Pharmacy (“La Farmacia”). Gathering data on the number of patients who go to the doctor’s office and the time they wait for it, a simple sampling was performed, where a total of 303 data (patients) were obtained, with which it was observed that the largest number of patients who do not wait to go to the doctor’s office left in the morning hours after waiting an average of 20 minutes, impacting the level of service and, consequently, generating losses of approximately $288,000 Mexican pesos using Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate the feasibility of opening a second medical office.
