Virtual Machine Placement in Cloud Environments: State of the ART
摘要
Cloud computing can be defined as an evolving computing technology using the internet and essential remote infrastructure to retain on-demand and pay-as-you-go assets. Infrastructure as a Service is one of the important services, which allows sharing physical resources and helps in improving their utilization. However, the more data centers grow the more power and resources they are going to consume, affecting both cost and service level agreement. Therefore, Virtual Machine (VM) placement emerged and became a critical operation for improving the overall performance of the system. This paper focuses on different optimization metrics, an analysis of approaches conducted in the past five years as well as their different placement strategies and algorithms.
