摘要

The paper’s ultimate goal is to develop an automated aquaponics system and analyze the sensor data that will aid in enhancing the efficiency of the aquaponics farming method as well as supporting Malaysia’s government’s initiative to increase food production in the post-pandemic phase, addressing food security issue in Malaysia. The main issue with aquaponics is the cost of arduous labour of monitoring both fish and plants in the aquaponics environment, hence discouraging some farmers from adopting this farming method. The output from this research will address this challenge by introducing the Internet of Things (IoT) and automation to monitor the aquaponics environment. This paper will discuss the use of IoT sensors to collect aquaponics environment parameters such as pH, Total dissolved solids (TDS), Electric Conductance (EC), temperature and water flow level and these data will be displayed in a Blynk dashboard so farmers can view their aquaponics environment from the comfort of their home. Additionally, once the IoT sensors detect those sensor values exceeding a certain threshold, a notification will be sent to the farmers so they can regulate the value back to normal conditions. These data will ultimately be analyzed to determine the trends in the aquaponics environment and improve the aquaponics’ efficiency.
