Is Your Next HR Manager a Robot? Exploring the Future of Human Resource Management in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

The blending of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Human Resource Management (HRM) practice has ushered in a new age that is fundamentally transforming the way people management is performed. To explore the interplay between AI and HRM, this study investigates the experiences of HR professionals in adopting AI across diverse functions such as recruitment, employee engagement, and performance management. The research employs a qualitative approach using thematic analysis, to reveal how AI significantly enhances HR processes, facilitates data driven decision making and fosters improved employee engagement. Specific cases of leading organizations are reviewed to offer insights into how AI can transform HR practices. The study also highlights critical challenges such as ethical dilemmas, data protection concerns and the need for sustaining a human AI partnership. The study proposes actionable strategies to exploit AI’s capabilities and navigate its complexities, while aiming to promote a future where AI and human expertise collaborate to redefine HR Management.
