DesignEd: A Web Based Platform to Improve Design Education
摘要
Design is a diverse and emerging field; it requires students to be creative, observant, and explorative. The current education system is rigid and limits the students’ freedom and ability to explore. Further, the evaluation methods may not accurately assess students’ creativity and practical skills. Therefore, an e-learning platform called ‘DesignEd’ has been introduced. This paper follows the UTAUT framework along with insights from the literature review, market study, and surveys to build a e-learning platform. This platform is then evaluated by experts and followed by stakeholder analysis to formulate a business model. DesignEd provides an unrestricted environment where students can explore their interests. To enhance student engagement and motivation, the platform integrates game-based elements. Upon the successful completion of tasks, students are awarded points and badges. This contributes to the development of an avatar. This avatar subsequently facilitates collaboration with peers. It also enables students to apply for design studios and internships at colleges. In essence, DesignEd addresses the evolving needs of design learners, by bridging the connection between students and industry.
