Health Information Sharing and Social Media: Effect on the Female Users During the Pandemic

摘要

Social media technology has revolutionized the way communication was done between people and healthcare professionals. These Social Media (SM) platforms are facilitating public access to health-related information, networks of health care people support, different aspects of health policies, as well as taking consultations through online medium with doctors and other health professionals. SM platforms are significant in informing the people about health-related issues hence, it has been regulated by government policies and the professional organizations. The exchange of health care information occurs on these platforms between three distinct user groups and these are doctor-doctor, patient-patient and between doctor-patient. The aim of communication for these user’s group is different. In this paper, a quantitative study has been done to assess the use of SM platforms for exchanging health care information amongst the female users of these platforms during the pandemic year. 200 female users of social media have been recruited for this survey for understanding the SM’s role in rendering health related information during this time. It is concluded through data analysis that SM had a significance in health care information provision to the female users during this period.
