A Pathway to Innovation. Design-Driven and User-Centric

In this chapter, the focus is on Thingk’s approach to innovation, characterised by its design-driven and user-centric methodology in developing smart home products. The discourse unfolds through a critical analysis of a three-phase innovation process: Research, Design, and Development. It uses the case study of Slab!, an IoT device serving as a kitchen scale or timer, to illustrate how complex functionalities can be seamlessly integrated into products with minimalistic aesthetics. Challenges and shortcomings encountered during the process are specifically addressed.
