Much has changed since the first edition of this book has been published. Significant advancements in surgical decision-making that surgeons have embraced and further developed. The most noteworthy developments include large scale advances in robotic assisted surgery present in most major and community hospitals in the USA and applied to every surgical discipline. In addition, an advent of electronic health records have paved the way for digital decision support systems, genomic research and molecular profiling have enabled personalized surgical approaches, and advanced imaging technologies have had a profound impact on surgical decision-making, and finally all these advancements collectively pave the way for more precise, individualized, and optimal surgical decision-making, improving patient outcomes and quality of care. Ongoing research, innovations in artificial intelligence, and further advancements in technology will likely continue to shape and refine surgical decision-making approaches in the coming years. By the time this book is published in the next few months, chances are there will be another breakthrough in surgery and medicine, and our clinical world, the way we knew it once, will keep changing. Will making surgical decisions in this ever-changing world be easier or more difficult, time will show.
