Utilization of Kinematic Synthesis Methodology on a Novel Polycentric Mechanism for Transfemoral Knee Prosthesis
摘要
Due to the escalating population of lower extremity amputee in worldwide, it is still required to improve prosthesis designs to be able to fulfill the demands in terms of quality and accessibility. Throughout the literature there exists valuable works to fulfill the mentioned requirements and many in progress since infinite number of mechanisms can be revealed to accomplish the duty by using optimization techniques, analytical approaches etc. In order to introduce a novelty through this scientific area, in the current work, it is utilized an analytical kinematic design procedure of a single degree of freedom polycentric mechanism to be used as a transfemoral prosthesis that can meet individual requirements for stance and swing phases. With the necessity of higher degree of freedom task, analytical approach to design a combined mechanism that have ability to guarantee stability in stance phase, and easy bending with offering biomimetic functionality in swing phase. Two individual designs for the stance and swing phases are presented modularly by utilizing kinematic synthesis procedures and it is aimed to combine them with a common goal.
