Joyce’s Production of Textbooks for use in Schools

Along with The Handbook, Joyce wrote textbooks for use in Irish schools and also works of an educational nature for the Irish people. Both of these bodies of work constituted valuable source material on the Irish language, folklore, mythology, history and placenames that enabled teachers and lesson planners, to culturally enrich the work undertaken in national schools. In addition, Joyce also targeted adults both in Ireland and abroad, who were eager to know more about their history and heritage.
