Ecosystem Approach to Quality of Life Management in Case of Sustainable Development of Territories

The quality of life as a factor ensuring the sustainable development of territories is of interest today because the understanding and effectiveness of individual provisions of the sustainable development strategy of the Russian Federation depends on the value of its level and the influence degree. The authors of this contribution consider issues, relationships and interdependence of the sustainable development of territories and the level of the quality of life based on the ecosystem approach. The work investigates the evolution of the definition and essential understanding of «quality of life», as well as strategic guidelines for the sustainable development. The quality of life is one of the conditions for the sustainable development, a tool for achieving it. The authors used general scientific methods (abstraction and analogy, system analysis, and generalization) as a methodological basis for the study. It is concluded that we need transformations and changes in approaches to improving the quality of life of the population to ensure the sustainable development of the Russian Federation, which will set a new line in achieving the sustainability of territories. The research purpose is to determine a relationship between the level of the quality of life and the sustainable development of territories, and to use the ecosystem approach as a tool for achieving a balance of these indicators.
