Import Substitution on the Example of the Development of the Automotive Industry

The research tasks are to conduct a comprehensive theoretical and practical analysis of the current economic situation and determine directions for increasing the economic potential of the Russian automotive industry through the policy of import substitution in the context of unprecedented sanctions from Western countries and make recommendations for the development of domestic manufacturers. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the fact that import substitution can be considered as a key, if not the only, factor in the development of the Russian economy, which is associated, in particular, with the modern sanctions policy. The contribution examines the example of Iranian experience in the automotive industry, demonstrating the possibility of solving problems by providing internal support from the state. Particular emphasis is placed on strategic development programs for both the automotive industry and the country’s economy as a whole.
