Managing the Development of Transport Infrastructure at the Regional Level

The relevance of the study is justified by the fact that processes of market integration both within the country and at the global level, the increase in flows of cargo transportation, mobility of citizens, the rapid development of the Internet of things around the world require an increasingly developed transport infrastructure. Transport infrastructure must be high-tech and manageable, not only at the level of the country’s largest megacities, but also at the level of remote regions of the Russian Federation, and that territory is the largest in the world. The purpose of the study is to identify functions of transport infrastructure management at the regional level, to analyze those tasks without the solution of which the development of transport infrastructure at the regional level cannot be effective. Research methods include analysis of problems and tasks of transport infrastructure development, covering many information sources, as well as data obtained during the personal research of the authors. The authors analyzed a role of transport infrastructure in various aspects of the functioning of the state as a whole and considered the main strategic tasks of managing it. In particular, ways to improve the efficiency of managing the development of transport infrastructure in the Volga Federal District are considered. The practical significance lies in the fact that the material presented in the contribution can be useful to specialists and entrepreneurs of the transport business, regional managers when solving practical problems of managing transport infrastructure (or its elements).
