Development of the Metallurgical Industry in Conditions of Global Economic Uncertainty

This contribution is devoted to the consideration of the main risks and opportunities for the ferrous metallurgy industry in general and its individual enterprises (in particular, enterprises located on the territory of the Russian Federation) under the influence of uncertainty and current trends in technological development, regulatory requirements, geopolitical restrictions and digitalization. The research tasks include the description of the landscape of risks and opportunities, the formulation of general concepts without a deep dive into risks minimization and management methods, as well as measures to develop favorable conditions for realizing opportunities. The objectives of the study are to conduct a comprehensive analysis of directions for increasing the economic potential of the Russian metallurgical industry through the policy of import substitution in the context of unprecedented sanctions from Western countries. The relevance of the study is determined by the need for companies in the Russian metallurgical industry to form and develop their own foreign economic strategy for the development of steel exports to world markets.
