Exploring Evolutionary Perspectives on Religion
摘要
This chapter examines various evolutionary perspectives on religious rituals. It considers different explanations for these rituals, including their role in expressing hierarchical relationships within a group, fostering group loyalty, satisfying psychological needs for self-integration, strengthening connections with supernatural entities, and serving as cultural adaptations for group cohesion. The chapter also highlights tensions between these evolutionary explanations and theological interpretations of religious rituals, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue between theology and science to better understand the complexities of religion.
