Sustainability in Rabindranath Tagore’s Philosophy of Religion

Rabindranath Tagore was a versatile genius. He was a great poet, educationist, humanist, patriot, internationalist, composer of National anthem of India respectively. Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy of religion is based on humanization. The essence of religion, according to Tagore, is humanity. Religion is the foundation of humanity. His philosophy of religion related to human i.e., the religion of man based on various aspects of human life such as social, economic and environmental which attained sustainability. We see at Shantiniketan, people are doing various activities and observing various festivals which meet the sustainability. Tagore desired the establishment of human religion. He emphasized the importance of protecting human life and nature, which is necessary for human survival. He stated that harmony with all existence accelerates sustainability. Based on primary and secondary sources of data with qualitative approach, the current chapter focuses on Sustainability in Rabindranath Tagore’s Philosophy of Religion- The Religion of Man.
