Circular Economy and Recycling as Effective Tools of Green Economy

The rapid development of modern society and the scientific and technological progress that has been taking place worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century have led to an increase in the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment. Thus, one of the most significant challenges facing humanity is global warming. The increase in the average global temperature is a critical issue, causing a range of global effects such as the melting of glaciers, disruption of the Earth's thermos circulation model, and rising sea levels. The danger of these effects lies in their consequences, including wildfires, droughts, floods, threats to biodiversity, and so on. Global warming is a result of the intensification of the greenhouse effect, caused by the emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides, water vapor, fluorine compounds, chlorine, and so on, many of which are produced by industrial enterprises. Some of these emissions are released directly into the atmosphere, while others are generated during the decomposition of production waste. Mitigating the negative anthropogenic impact of industrial activities can be achieved through the implementation of green economy principles, including circular economy. This article explores the tool of green economy, specifically circular economy and its component - recycling. It identifies the key aspects, benefits, and the necessity of adopting a closed-loop economy for sustainable development. The international experience is examined, as well as the prerequisites for the widespread adoption of this practice in our country.
